File created by E-Transcript Manager, a program used for creating certified electronic transcripts; contains transcript data recorded from a courtroom hearing; most commonly used by court reporting firms in creating legal transcripts for attorneys; created to reduce the file size of emailed transcripts.

E-Transcripts may also use the .exe extension, which allows the transcript to be viewed from a self-contained file; however, email filters often stop the delivery of .exe files; for this reason, the PTX file format was created as non-executable format to more easily bypass email server filters.

PTX E-Transcripts may be converted back and forth between .exe E-Transcripts.
